Bio
Dr. Karkouti obtained his MD, University of Toronto (1990), FRCPC, Anesthesia (1995), followed by a MSc, Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research, Department of Health Administration, University of Toronto (1999). He joined the Active Staff in the Department of Anesthesia and Pain Management, University Health Network, Toronto General Hospital (1996). He is currently the anesthesiologist-in-chief at the University Health Network, Sinai Health System, and Women's College Hospital (2019), and holds the rank of Professor at the Department of Anesthesia and Pain Management as well as the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation, University of Toronto. He is also a Senior Scientist at the Toronto General Research Institute, with a research focus on perioperative coagulopathy and blood management.
