Persistent Breast Cancer Pain Program

Program Description

High-quality observational studies suggest that 1/3 of patients undergoing a mastectomy or lumpectomy will develop long-term chronic pain. This program has been developed to facilitate the early identification and evaluation of problematic pain after breast cancer surgery. This clinical program will include evaluations by the program's involved pain physicians, breast surgeons, and allied health professionals. Patients will be assessed and be provided with recommended conservative therapies or go onto advanced pain management techniques such as nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, or implantation of a peripheral nerve stimulator.
